The perfect time to celebrate your accomplishments thus far, Healthy Aging Month is a time to remember all the positive aspects of growing older. Whether you sign up for a pottery class, join your local gym or take a walk around town with your dog, it is important to get out into the community and celebrate all the positives that life has to offer. National Cholesterol Education Month
Produced naturally in the body and found in foods high in saturated fats, there are good and bad types of cholesterol. High cholesterol (too much bad cholesterol in the body) can lead to heart attack, stroke and other diseases. Healthy eating and daily exercise can help you to maintain good cholesterol levels. Learn more about cholesterol with the American Heart Association and ask your doctor about having a blood test run to check your cholesterol levels at your next appointment.
World Alzheimer’s Month
Celebrate World Alzheimer’s Month and World Alzheimer’s Day this upcoming September 21, 2015 by learning more about dementia and the stigmas and challenges that come with this disease. The collective term for a variety of degenerative brain syndromes, dementia affects an estimated 35.6 million people in the world. Awareness events and fundraisers are being hosted across the globe, so find one near you and get involved!
