Job title: Repair Technician / Customer Service
Department: Repair Shop
Schedule: Full Time / Part Time M-F 9a-5p Saturdays 10a-2pm
Probationary period 3 months
Overview
The Service Technician job duties include the assembly, repair and maintenance of all
equipment provided by the company; home equipment, respiratory, vehicle lifts, ceiling Lifts,
Valet Seats, Vertical Platforms, Wheelchair Ramps, Elevators, Vehicle Hand Controls. The
service or repair could be delivered in compliance with specific medical requirements,
modifications to existing customer equipment, repair of damaged or malfunctioning customer
equipment, or routine service required by the manufacturer.
Qualifications
● High School diploma or equivalent required
● One year’s experience with repairs and electronics
● Minor welding, knowledge of shop tools (drill press, grinder, ect vehicle left
installation).
● Delivery and stockroom experience
● Excellent driving record
● Formal training in Electronics or equivalent preferred
● Preferred HME/DME repair experience
● Excellent verbal and written communication skills
● Computer literate

Physical Demands
The physical demands described are representative of those that must be met by the employee
to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
● Work of medium physical demand, frequently requiring lifting and carrying items
weighing up to 75 pounds
● Frequent Stooping and bending when handling equipment and supplies. Regularly
requires sitting, standing or driving vehicles for extended periods of time.
● Good use of hands to finger dexterity to handle objects and do repairs on very fine
level.
● Ability to withstand working in an open environment, where both heat and cold may be
extreme.
Mental Demands
This job requires the ability to think quickly in response to both customer requests and
customer complaint.
● Fluency in English & Spanish (read, write and speak) is required as the overwhelming
majority of customers & contacts communicate only in those languages.
● This person must be able to maintain sharp focus, be organized and meet objectives.
● Ability to take measurements, calculate figures and amounts and to double-check those
figures.
Essential Tasks
Troubleshooting- Rehab
● Diagnose, repair, and/or modify equipment, as needed, in order to assure proper
fitting and functioning of rehabilitation equipment. This may be done in the shop or
in the field.
● Be skilled in troubleshooting mobility equipment to determine type of service or
parts necessary for repair. Provide excellent listening and communication skills to
customers in troubleshooting service requests via telephone or in person.
● In case of equipment breakdown, converse with equipment operators to ascertain
problems with equipment before breakdown to determine if breakdown is due to
human error or mechanical problems.
● Coordinate demo/loaner equipment as needed.
Equipment Assembly
● Assemble or prepare equipment for delivery, pulling and assembling equipment and
supplies from the warehouse as prescribed on patient/client delivery tickets.
Repair-Modify Equipment-Rehab
● Provide service or repair for; equipment to be delivered in compliance with specific
medical requirements, modifications to existing customer equipment, repair of
damaged or malfunctioning customer equipment, or routine service required by the
manufacturer.
● Be able to prepare and effectively communicate repair quotes.
● Have sufficient electronic skills in; electronic assembly for power mobility,
troubleshooting and repair of electronic controls.
● Be skilled in use of electronic test equipment; specifically, the use of a digital
multimeter and oscilloscope.
Repair-Modify Equipment-Respiratory
● Provide service or repair for; equipment to be delivered in compliance with specific
medical requirements, repair of damaged or malfunctioning customer equipment, or
routine service required by manufacturer.
● Be able to prepared and effectively communicate repairs quotes.
● Depending on the focus of our company, be able to repair all types of medical
equipment provided including: rental DME, respiratory DME in a timely manner.
Maintenance-Rehab and DME
● Inspect incoming rentals for hours used, maintenance needed and repairs required.
Inspect and process returns per company and infection control guidelines.
● Perform a through check on wheelchairs, beds, etc in house and in the field and verify
equipment is working properly.
● Follow established maintenance schedule for each piece of equipment per specific
equipment procedure requirements and per Manufacturer’s recommendations. Maintain
equipment in good working order and appearance and verify equipment is working
properly.
● Monitor and report abnormal wear and tear to equipment that may be caused by
customer misuse or abuse.
● When complex repairs are needed, ensure repairs are scheduled and completed.
● Provided complete thorough documentation on all equipment.
Quality Assurance
● Supervise equipment delivered to maintain quality control
● Verify complete shipments to customers
● Verify equipment sale/rent to be in good working order before delivery
● Thorough documentation on all rental equipment, including: Service date, Repair
detail, Serial numbers. Cleaning dates and initial, Warranty information.
Parts and Equipment Inventory
● Maintain an adequate and appropriate supply of repair parts
● Purchase special parts only as needed and on the most cost-efficient basis.
● Perform accurate physical inventory as required by the company, including input into
the computer inventory record.
● Follow company warranty procedures when handling warranty claims.
Shipping and Receiving
● Receive all items shipped on a daily basis. Verify accuracy of shipment, notify
appropriate parties of shipments received, and initiate work orders that are pending
receipt of parts.
● Notify purchasing of damage or shortage immediately and follow up.
Customer Service and Professionalism
● Offer compassionate and positive interactions with customers.
● Resolve customer concerns and complaints in a constructive manner, serving as an
intermediary between customer concerns and company needs
● Receive, investigate and respond quickly and professionally to all customer inquires
regarding, shipments, products, deliveries and complaints. Resolve customer concerns
and complaints by identifying problems and coordinating corrective action. When
customer problems and questions arise, be able to answer equipment and clinical
questions to the customers
